RAID ON CANTON
RAILWAY STATION BADLY DAMAGED LOSS OF LIFE SMALL (Recd This Day, 9.45 a.m.) CANTON, July 17. Japanese war planes bombed the city for 80 minutes this morning, concentrating on the Wongsha Railway Station, which was again heavily damaged. The loss of life was small. ATTACK REPELLED CHINESE RETAIN NAMOA ISLAND (Recd This Day, 9.45 a.m.) HONG KONG, July 17. The Chinese frustrated a Japanese attempt to recapture Namoa Island.
