CHILDREN’S HOME
MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. BEQUEST OF £lOO MADE. A meeting of the management committee of the Masterton Methodist Children’s Home was held recently, the chairman (Mr J. H. Handyside) presiding. Notification was received of a legacy of £lOO, which would soon become payable from the estate of Mr James Chism. The matron reported that 3 children were admitted during the month, bringing the number in the home up to 37. Consideration was given to the necessity for providing for new. cooking and hot water facilities in the home and a sub-committee y/as appointed to bring down further reports: The committee expressed approval of the proposal that some of the older children, attend various morning church services in the immediate district with a view to furthering the interests of the, home. The following donations to the home are acknowledged with thanks: —Mrs Elliott, fruit and sweets: Wesley Church (Masterton), harvest produce; Dalefield Church, harvest produce; Carterton Church, harvest produce; anonymous, tennis balls; Central School, bread; Mrs Styles, buns; Miss Wallace, apples; Mr Warham, apples; Mr Anker, apples; Mr Richardson, vegetables; Miss Murray, vegetables; Mrs Hood, vegetables; Mrs Pearce, jerseys; Mrs Cameron (Hinakura), fruit and jam; anonymous, jam; Mrs Cocker, clothes; Wesley Church (Masterton), sandwiches; Knox Church (Masterton), sandwiches; Flood Relief Ball, milk and sandwiches; Green Meadows Church, harvest produce; Hutt Church, harvest produce.
