LOAN TO CHINA

ATTITUDE OF THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 14. The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Sir John Simon) stated in the House of Commons that various proposals had been made by China for obtaining a loan in Britain. If in certain circumstances China found it possible to obtain a loan from British financial institutions, any request for Government approval would be sympathetically considered. The Government had no power to grant or guarantee a loan without legislation, which, in certain circumstances, it did not see its way to introduce.
