OBITUARY

MRS J. D. C. CREWE. ONE WHO AIDED MANY WORTHY CAUSES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PAHIATUA. This Day. The death took place at Pahiatua this morning of Mrs J. D. C. Crewe, President of the Bush-Wairarapa Federation of Women’s Institutes since its inception. Mrs Crewe was one of the bestknown Institute figures in the Dominion and was revered for her remarkable qualities and for the interest she displayed in aiding worthy causes, particularly during the war. First President of the Pahiatua Institute and also of the Wellington Provincial, North Wellington and then Bush-Wairarapa Federation of Insti-__ tutes, she received the coveted gold honours badge last year. Mrs Crewe, who was 58 years of age, was injured in a motor accident recently, when a car she was driving was involved in a collision.
