WHAKATAKI FATALITY

VERDICT OF ACCIDENTAL DEATH. A verdict of accidental death was returned by Mr E. G. Eton, District Coroner, at an inquest held at Whakataki yesterday concerning the death of James Herbert Foster Foreman, who died as a result of injuries suffered when his car left the road at the approach to the Whakataki bridge. The accident occurred on June 19 and Mr Foreman died the following day in the Masterton Hospital. Several witnesses gave evidence as to the movements of Mr Foreman prior to the accident. There was no eye-witness of the accident and it was impossible to say, observed the Coroner in returning his verdict, how the mishap occurred. There was no suggestion of drinking and a certificate of fitness had just been issued for the car.
