TRIBUTE TO HAMMOND
PROPOSED FOR MEMBERSHIP OF M.C.C. EARL BALDWIN’S INTIMATION (Recd This: Day, 12.40 p.m.) LONDON, July 13. Earl Baldwin, as president, has sent a letter to W. R. Hammond, English Test'captain. intimating that he is proposing him for election to the Marylebone Cricket Club. Newspapers point out that this is a graceful tribute to the Test captain. Membership of Marylebone is usually difficult to obtain, some members waiting 40 years for election.
