STATE THEATRE.

“SHE’S GOT EVERYTHING.” “She’s Got Everything,” will be finally shown tonight at the State Theatre. “JOY OF LIVING.” Something radically refreshing in filmusicals is the sprightly new Irene Dunne-Douglas Fairbanks Junr. comedy with Jerome Kern music, “Joy of Living,” which will commence at the State tomorrow at 7.45 o’clock. Instead of the customary unsubstantial plot of most tune pictures, “Joy of Living” presents the pursuit of happiness theme, and this, with its gay melodies, brilliant cast and colourful settings, makes it a genuinely worthwhile piece of screen fare. In the story Miss Dunne is a top-notch musical comedy star, whose selfish family is only interested in spending her money faster than she can earn it. Fairbanks, convinced that happiness is the greatest thing in life, has, on that belief, bought himself a South Sea island and a tramp freighter that he uses as a self-sup-porting private yacht. All he wants is a queen for his island, and he decides that Miss Dunne will do. The stormy progress of this unique romance is enlivened by the Jerome Kern melodies which Miss Dunne sings beautifully The excellent cast includes Guy Kibbee, Alice Brady, Jean Dixon, Eric Blore, Lucille Ball, and Warren Hymer. The talented five-year-olds, Dorothy and Estelle Steiner, Billy Gilbert, Franklin Pangborn and Spencer Diaters also turn in fine supporting performances.
