j PRICES AT ADDINGTON I t L (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 13. Entries were of normal size at today’s Addington market, both fat sheep and fat cattle being firmer. Store sheep: Four and five-year ewes, well in lamb, sold at 21s; inferior sorts, to 17s Id; two-tooth ewes, passed at 24s 6d; older ewes in lamb, passed at 13s. Fat sheep: An irregular sale with an average improvement of about a shilling a head for all good wethers and ewes. Best, wethers made 28s to 31s; tops, to 33s 7d; good .medium weights, 25s to 27s 6d; best ewes, 19s to 235; tops, to 26s lOd; light down to 12s. Fat cattle: A better sale for good cattle by up to 20s a head, lighter by 10s. Best steers made £l4 to £l5 ss; ' tops, to £l7; good, £ll to £l3 10s; best heifers, £8 5s to £lO ss; tops, to £l2 17s 6d; light, down to £5 15s; good cows, £7 15s to £9 10s; tops, to ’ £ll 17s 6d; light, down to £4-7s 6d. Fat pigs: A firmer sale for porkers. Prices were from £2 Ils to £3 6s 6d. the average price a lb being 7d to Bd. Baconers met with a keen sale, prices being slightly better than those of last week. Prices ranged from £3 7s 6d to £5 9s 6d, an average price a lb of 61 dto 7’d. Choppers met with a brisk demand, making from £2 Ils to £5 15s'. Store pigs: Little change in values. Weaners sold at 8s to 14s; slips, 15s to 18s; stores, 19s to 32s 6d. Store cattle: The market contained no straight-bred lines, and competition was slack. Vealers: Another good sale. Best runners made £7 3s 6d; vealers, £2 19s to £6 13s; calves, to £2 Ils. 1

CATTLE SELL WELL WELLINGTON, This Day. A good yarding of all classes of stock was offered at the Johnsonville sale. The bullocks sold consisted chiefly of good quality medium to heavy weight cattle, j These met with a good sale with prices | showing a firming tendency. Good I quality heifers were offered and sold i well at late rates. Runners and vealers came forward in the usual quality and met with a ready sale. There was a good yarding of heavyweight wethers with a few pens of lighter weights. Heavyweights met with a good sale, while lighter sorts were hard to sell. The ewes sold were mostly good quality sheep with a few pens of light and unfinished weights. All classes sold well at late rates. The yarding of lambs were of indifferent quality, prices showing no alteration. Quotations are as follow: — Prime extra heavy bullocks, £l5 7s 6d to £l5; prime heavy bullocks, £l4 15s to £l4; heavy bullocks, £l3 15s to £l3; light and unfinished bullocks, £l2 12s 6d to £l2; extra prime heavy cows and heifers, £9 5s to 15s; prime heavy cows and heifers, £8 7s 6d to £7 15s; cows, ex dairy, £4 10s to £2 15s. Runners, £s’to £4 2s 6d; vealers, £3 10s to £2 10s. HOGGETS SELL WELL. The New Zealand Farmers? Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., report a fair yarding of sheep and dairy cows at their weekly sale at Masterton. There was a good yarding of fats and prices realised were on a par with late rates. Hoggets sold well. The following are some of the prices realised: —Fat and forward 2-th. wethers, to 22s 9d; good shorn wether lambs, 18s 7d; smaller, to 14s; woolly wether lambs, small, 7s 3d; ewe lambs, small, 13s 6d; close to profit dairy cows, from £5 10s to £7; late calvers, £4 10s to £5 ss. DALGETY & CO., LTD. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their Masterton sale yesterday as follows:--A medium entry of all classes of sheep came forward, but the attendance was not large owing to the adverse weather conditions. However, bidding throughout was keen and prices showed quite a good improvement on those of last week. Store sheep especially were keenly sought after, wether hoggets and store wethers being in demand. We report a total clearance as follows: —Heavy prime fat ewes, a/c Mr F. W. Blatchford, 22s 8d; fat ewes, light weights, 16s to 17s; fat Southdown ewes, 17s; small 2-th. wethers, 20s 6d; medium w.f. wether hoggets, 14s 6d to 15s Id. WRIGHT STEPHENSON & CO., LTD.
