BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION

MASTERTON COUNTY PLANS. SPECIAL LOAN TO BE RAISED. At yesterday’s meeting of the Masterton County Council, the Clerk (Mr J. C. D. Mackley) was instructed to take the preliminary steps to raise a special loan of £14,500 for the reconstruction of the following bridges:— Main Highways:— Masterton-Stron-var Highway: Wangaehu River bridge, £2,260,‘ less M.H.B. subsidy £3 for £l, £1,695, £565; Taueru River bridge, £9,388, less M.H.B. subsidy, £3 for £l, £7,041, £2,347; Longridge bridge, £970, less M.H.B. subsidy £3 for £l, £727, £243. Te Ore Ore-Bideford Highways’ Sulphur Wells bridge, £l,417, less M.H.B. subsidy £3 for £l, £1,062, £355; Bridge Creek bridge, £2,620, less M.H.B. subsidy £3 for £l, £1,965, £655. Blairlogie-Langdale Highway: Mangapokia stream bridge No. 2, £3,400, less M.H.B. subsidy £3 for £l, £2,550, £B5O.

Riding Roads: — Waingawa Camp road bridge, £3,743; Kiriwhakapapa road bridge No. 1, £1,724; Jackson’s road bridge, £1,041; Te Ore Ore Settlement road bridge, £1,109; Wairongo road bridge, £180: Kaiwhata stream bridge, £1,755; total, £14,567.
