FEATHERSTON

NATIONAL PARTY FUNCTION (“Times-Age” Special.) A most successful card tournament and dance was held in the Anzac Hall last evening by the Featherston branch of the National Party. The prize winners in the Euchre were:—Mesdames L. Crawford and J. Cross, and the Messrs J. Rae and H. Jackson. The dance was a decided success. The music was supplied by Udy’s Orchestra, and extras played by the Wairarapa Pipe Band. The supper arrangements were under the able supervision of Mrs Q. Donald, and were much appreciated. The stage was attractively decorated with red and gold hollyhocks, and the supper tables with spring bulbs and camellias. Mr J. F. Thompson, who was introduced by Mrs D. H. S. Riddiford, gave a short address. ’ KAHUTARA DRAMA CIRCLE. The Drama Circle held a concert and dance in the Kahutara Hall last Saturday night, when there was a packed house. The following programme was presented:—Opening chorus; Miss G. Welch, Sailors Hornpipe; play, “Quiet Rubber,” O. Harvey, L. Hood, N. Corlet and Mrs Playle; song in costume, Joan Fenwick and E. Chisholm; play, “Amelia Obliges,” Mesdames Harvey, Playle, Duffy, Misses J. Hood and O. Harvey; Gipsy tableau, pianoforte solo, Miss D. Chisholm; play, “Captain Johnston,” L. and J. Hood, N. Corlet and M. Harvey; campfire scene; tap dance, O. M. Harvey; piano duet, E. and D. Chisholm; play, “Sing a Song of Sixpence,” Mrs Duffy, Mrs Harvey, M. and O. Harvey, E. Hall, J. Fenwick. BOXING REVIVAL. There is a revival of boxing in Featherston. A tournament is to take place in the Town Hall on Tuesday night, when members of the Moera Club are to visit Featherston. The local boys will also provide several bouts. Mr Hercock, of Levin, is to be referee. PERSONALS Mr and Mrs W. Pope left today for a fortnight’s holiday in the South Island. Miss J. Fenwick is on a visit to “Annedale,” Masterton.
