There were seven cases of arson in Jewish premises. An Arab priest, an opponent of the exiled Mufti, was shot dead in the old City of Jerusalem. The Arabs themselves believe the assassins were not Jews, but Arab terrorists, who suspected the priest of communicating with the police. Bombs thrown into a paper warehouse wounded two Jews.
