INTER-CLUB GOLF MATCH (“Times-Age" Special.) The annual inter-club match with The annual inter-club match with Tyneside was played on the local links over the week-end in fine weather. The Te Wharau team again proved too good for the visitors by 7 games. Nine holes four-ball was played before lunch, and finished all-square. In the afternoon fortune favoured the home side in the 18 holes of singles, the men being seven up, and the ladies one down. The following are the results: Tyneside players being mentioned first in each instance: — Ladies four-ball:—Miss Jordan and Mrs Gillies defeated Mrs Nitz and Miss Lucas; Miss Burrows and Miss Harris beat Mrs Foreman and Mrs I. McGregor; Mrs Sykes and Miss Bartholomew lost to Mrs Schofield and Mrs Read; Mrs W. Bannister and Miss Williams lost to Mrs A. McGregor and Mrs McKinstry. Men’s four-ball: —O. Williams and K. McDonald beat H. Paku and E. Nitz; F. C. Cameron and S. Falloon beat M. Paku and N. Kummer; W. Gillies and W. Bannister beat W. Kummer and N. Foreman; O. Sykes and I. Macrae lost to I. McGregor and S. Gray; R. Bayliss and I. Talbot lost to F. McKinstry and H. Nitz; W. Bannister, junr and C. Clemas lost to H. Winter and R. McKinstry; A. Burrows and R. Vennell halved with F. Cotter and A. McGregor. Ladies’ singles:—Miss Jordan defeated Mrs Nitz; Mrs Gillies defeated Miss Lucas; Miss Burrows defeated Mrs Foreman; Miss Harris lost to Mrs I. McGregor; Mrs Sykes and Mrs Schofield were all square; Miss Bartholomew beat Mrs Read; Mrs Bannister lost to Mrs A. McGregor; and Miss Williams lost to Mrs McKinstry. Men’s singles:—O. Williams beat H. Paku; K. McDonald lost to E. Nitz; F. C. Cameron defeated M. Paku; S. Falloon lost to N. Kummer; W. Gillies lost to W. Kummer; W. Bannister beat N. Foreman; O. Sykes lost to I. McGregor; R. Baylis lost to F. McKinstry; I. Talbot lost to H.. Nitz; W. Bannister, jnr., lost to H. Winter; C. Clemas lost to R. McKinstry; A. Burrows lost to F. Cotter; R. Vennell lost to A. McGregor. The return match will be played at Tyneside on July 31. Mrs McKinstry defeated Mrs Read in a Kummerstein Cup match, and P. Kummer defeated F. Cotter in a Nimmo Cup challenge. Next Saturday Mrs McKinstry will play Miss M. Taylor, and P. Kummer will meet H. Winter. The men are now playing the second round for the Nimmo Cup, and all players wishing to take part are requested to hand in their challenges to the secretary. A match between ladies and men will be played next Saturday over 18 holes, match play on handicap. The draw will be posted in the club house on the day of play. BACHELORS’ BALL A meeting was held last Wednesday evening when it was decided to hold a bachelors’ ball oh August 6, Messrs S. Gray and B. W. Schofield were appointed secretaries, and the prospects for a successful function already look very bright.
