ROYAL SHOW

REPORT ON CENTENNIAL . PROJECT. SPECIAL FIXTURE HELD TO BE IMPRACTICABLE. (By Telegraph—Press' Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The report of a sub-committee on a proposal to hold a Centennial Royal Show was submitted to the resumed annual meeting of the Royal Agricultural Society today. It was considered that the holding of such- a show Jn 1940, in temporary buildings in or near Wellington, was impracticable, and the sub-committee also viewed unfavourably a suggestion of holding a show in the autumn- of 1940 at Palmerston North. It could recommend no practicable scheme for holding a Centennial Show, Isut recommended that the Royal Show to be held in Invercargill in 1939 be designated the Royal Centennial Show. A recommendation was made also that the committee continue and formulate a scheme for the future conduct of Royal Shows, to be presented at the time of the 1938 Royal Show at Hamilton, in October.
