LANSDOWNE SCHOOL
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Lansdowne School Committee was held last evening. Mr H. E. Pither occupied the chair. Accounts amounting to £4 16s 4d were passed for payment. A letter was received from the Trust Lands Trust intimating. that a grant of £2O had been allocated to the school, and the secretary was directed to acknowledge the committee’s appreciation in connection therewith. The headmaster’s ; report was submitted, showing the present roll number to be 227, with an average attendance during the past week of 207.5, which is considered good in the circumstances under which the children are placed at the present time. Work in the temporary quarters was being carried on as well as possible, and every effort has been made to make the children comfortable during the winter months and with the fullest cooperation from the Education Board. Advice has been received from the Board that in connection with the “consolidation,” the Wangaehu School would be closed, and the. pupils transferred to Lansdowne when the new school was ready for occupation.
