r ' TRY THESE RECIPES. Honeycomb Toffee. One pound sugar, 3 drops essence of almonds, 2J tablespoons vinegar, 1 teaspoon carbonate of soda. Dissolve sugar in vinegar, stirring frequently. When the mixture boils take out spoon and boil the mixture till it begins to brown. Take off fire and add the essence of almonds and carbonate of soda. Stir well and pour on to buttered plate till set. Plain Toffee. Six ounces golden syrup, Jib butter, Jib sugar; 6 dessertspoons milk. Weigh the golden syrup in the saucepan and then add the butter, sugar and milk, and dissolve very slowly over a low burner. Then boil till a small quantity when dropped into cold water sets quite hard. Pour at once into a buttered tin and cut Into squares before it becomes too hard. Wrap in wax paper and store in airtight tin.
