RUGBY FOOTBALL
COLLEGE MATCH. VICTORIA BEATS MASSEY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The annual Rugby match between Massey Agricultural College and Victorian University College, played on Kelburn Park yesterday, was evenly contested, Victoria winning 13 —11. The winners showed marked superiority in the backs, but this was offset by the advantage in weight and height held by the Massey forwards. Although the Victoria pack hooked the ball from most of the set scrums, Massey gained possession from most of the line-outs.
ALL BLACK TEAM
WRIGHT REPLACES DICK. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Wellington Rugby football representative, A. Wright, was advised by the New Zealand Rugby Union yesterday of his selection by Mr E. McKenzie in the All Black team which will leave for Australia tomorrow. He is to replace J. Dick, Auckland, an All Black wing three-quarter of last year, who has contracted measles. Although Dick would no doubt be fit to play on the team’s arrival at Sydney, the risk of infection of the other members of the team is considered too great for him to be allowed to make the trip.
