FEATHERSTON

W.E.A. GROUP FORMED. (“Times-Age” Special.) A well attended meeting of the ■Workers’ Educational Association was held on Monday night when Mr Garner, Organising Tutor, outlined a study programme. It waa decided to form a group, Mr S. Kilsby being elected Group Leader. “International Issues” was decided upon for the discussion course. Meetings are to be held every Tuesday night In the District High School building. A number of members were enrolled. On the motion of Mr Kilsby a vote of thanks was passed to Mr Garner, and was carried by acclamation. EUCHRE AFTERNOON. Members of the Horticultural Society held a euchre afternoon at the residence of Mrs C. Rea, when an enjoyable time was spent. The prizewinners were: —Mrs Barry 1, Mrs Lyford 2. Mrs Ankers won the consolation. The provision of afternoon tea brought a pleasant afternoon to a close. VERDICT AT INQUEST. At the inquest in connection with the death of the Mr Fred Murphy, the Coroner (Mr T. Lang, J.P.), returned a verdict of death from heart failure. LIBRARIAN APPOINTMENT. Mrs H. Clapshaw has been appointed Librarian-Custodian of the Featherston Literary Institution. There were 8 applicants. The sum of £lO, a private grant, is

to be expended in the purchase of children’s books for the local library. MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB. The scores in the weekly shoot held last night were as follow: —R. Deadman 83, L. Hyland 87, A.
