PERSONAL ITEMS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr Frank S. Wilkins is at present an inmate of Croydon Hospital, having had the misfortune to break a blood vessel in a leg while playing football on Saturday. Mr A. «T. F. Whitehead, who has been on sick leave from the Carterton railway clerical staff, for the past 12 months, returned to duty today. Mr J. Johnson, who has been relieving at the Carterton railway station, has been transferred to the relief staff, Wairarapa. FUNERAL OF WEMBLEY GOODIN. The funeral of blaster Wembley Goodin, who was accidentally shot on Sunday, took place yesterday. There was a large attendance of mourners, the remains being interred at the Clareville Cemetery. A short service was held at the residence of the parents by the Rev. H. White, Methodist minister, qnd at the graveside he was assisted by the Captain of the Salvation Army. Many_ beautiful floral wreaths were sent which testified to the respect in which the deceased and his parents are held, among the wreaths was one from members of the Carterton Miniature Rifle Club. The pall-bearers were Messrs R. Goodin, H. Goodin, C. Johnson, L. Johnson, C. Jamieson and W. Blinkhorn. MINIATURE RIFLES. The weekly shoot of the Cartertoi. Next week Carterton will fire an In-ter-club match with South Featherston on the latter’s range.
Wairarapa and Wellington teams will fire an inter-association match on the Wellington range at the Winter Show'Buildings on Saturday next. DRUIDS’ LODGE. At the usual meeting of the Druids’ Lodge Arch Druid Bro. z D’Arcy Gayfer presided. Feeling reference was made to the accidental death of Wembley Gooding, son of Bro. Herbert Goodin, and a vote of condolence with the relatives was carried. Favourable reports on sick members were received. It was resolved to instal a gas ring in the lodge room, get the gas service re-conditioned, and put in a slot meter. The Foresters’ Lodge expressed willingness to join the Druids in an effort to establish indoor bowls and other games in the lodge room. The application of a member, who had allowed his membership to lapse, .for reinstatement was granted subject to compliance with rules governing such cases.
