WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT MT BRUCE. A very enjoyable afternoon was spent in the Mt Bruce Hall on the occasion of the Mt Bruce Women’s Institute meeting, which was presided over by Mrs R. C. Campbell. A talk by Mr Bannister on early Wairarapa was much appreciated. At the afternoon tea adjournment, Miss Isla Campbell, who is shortly to be married, was presented with a pyrex dish from her fellow members. The competition—guessing the contents of parcels—was won by Mrs K. Buick, after which Miss Campbell was asked to open and accept these parcels. The bloom competition resulted as follows: —Mrs C. Campbell (violet), 1; Miss M’. Campbell (bulb), 2. The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
