ROAD COLLISION
INTOXICATION CHARGE AGAINST MOTORIST. SENT TO GAOL FOR 14 DAYS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A collision which occurred on the Hutt Road on Saturday evening between a Railways bus and a motor-car had a sequel in the Magistrate’s Court today, when Owen Bruce Carter, a farm labourer aged 50, pleaded guilty to a charge of intoxication while in charge of a car, and also admitted driving without a licence. Carter was proceeding from Wellington to Featherston arid swerved on a straight part of the road, near the overhead bridges, struck the bus, and, with the front wheels of his car shattered, cor?tinued for 234 feet before coming to a stop. On the intoxication charge, Carter was sentenced to fourteen days’ imprisonment with hard labour.
