SHOOTING TRAGEDY

CARTERTON BOY FATALLY INJURED. ACCIDENT.AT PARKVALE. Tragedy attended a shooting party in the Parkvale district yesterday, Wembley Goodin, a 13 years-old boy, of Park Road, Carterton; being’ fatally shot. The victim and his brother joined a party of Wellington youths, equipped with pea rifles. The party split into two, working either side of a gully. W. Kirkwood, a 17 years-old Wellington youth, is stated to have fired across the gully, the bullet accidentally hitting young Goodin. It penetrated his chest and killed him instantly. An inquest was opened in Carterton this morning and, after part evidence ’

was heard, it was adjourned.
