BADMINTON
EASY WIN FOR AUSTRALIANS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N„ July 3. The Australian team of badminton players was not unduly troubled by the Manawatu opposition in a series of matches played at Palmerston North last night. Australia won by 8 rubbers, 1G sets, 249 points to no rubbers, 2 sets, 120 points. The variety of strokes produced by the visitors was interesting and instructive to the large attendance of badminton followers, and at times most entertaining. Their exhibition was polished and bright and the players themselves were too crafty for their opponents. The players participating were: —Australia: B. G. Tonkin, R. Harper, Misses E. Robert and I. Hewett. Manawatu: C. Dunn, C. Sherrin, R. Duncalf, Mrs Dunn, Misses P. Rodden and M. Orchard.
