SILVER WEDDING

MR AND MRS H. JOYCE. On Saturday evening a large number of friends paid a surprise visit to Mr and Mrs H. Joyce, Cambridge Terrace, Masterton, in connection with the celebration of their silver wedding. A most enjoyable time was spent at bridge and flag bridge. After supper Mr J. McGregor (who was best man at the wedding twenty-five years ago),, in an appropriate speech, congratulated Mr and Mrs Joyce on attaining their quarter century of married life, and wished them long life, with the ultimate celebration of their golden wedding. On behalf of the guests he made a presentation of a parcel of silver to Mr and Mrs Joyce, who were accorded musical honours. Mr Harrington then presented Mrs Joyce with a gift in view of the fact that today is her birthday, and Mr B. Iveson' handed bouquets to Mr and Mrs Joyce, both of whom suitably acknowledged the honour done them that evening. The gathering was brought to a close with cheers for Mr and Mrs W. Hoar, who had organised the function, and the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
