YOUNG FARMERS
AWARDS IN "TIMES-AGE” ESSAY CONTEST MASTERTON MEMBER TAKES FIRST PRIZE Recently members of Wairarapa Young Farmers clubs who took part in a North Island tour engaged in an essay competition for prizes awarded by the “Wairarapa Times-Age.” The competitors were called upon to describe their tour and to devote some attention to their observations en route, account being'taken of an appreciation of technical aspects of farming industry, as well as of style and expression. The number of entries in the competition was smaller than had been anticipated, but three of the essays received touched a commendably high standard and approximated closely in merit. Prizes have been awarded as follow:—J. L. Mackay, Penrose, Masterton, 1; R. J. Lawrence, Nireaha, and C. Bliss, Carterton, equal, 2.
