DRILLING FOR OIL
SECOND SHIPMENT OF PLANT ARRIVES OPERATIONS NEAR GISBORNE (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July I. The second shipment of plant and machinery to be used by the New Zealand Petroleum Company, Ltd., in drilling for oil near Gisborne, will reach Auckland on Sunday afternoon from New York by the steamer Trehata. This consignment of about 360 tons will follow one of about 50 tons brought from San Francisco by the Mariposa three weeks ago. It will be transhipped at Auckland to a coastal vessel for Gisborne. About 1500 tons of equipment is being brought from the United States. The remainder will be carried by the Monterey, due from San Francisco on Friday, and the steamer City of Bagdad, expected from New York about July 25. It is expected the City of Bagdad will bring the bulk of material.
