WEDDINGS

McLEOD—BUICK. The marriage took place at Knox Church, Masterton, on Thursday, of Miss Erma Buick, only daughter of Mr R. Buick and the late Mrs Buick, and Kenneth Robert, only son of Mr and Mrs R. McLeod, Ruawaka, Martinborough. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of silver embossed cloque cut on classical lines. Her veil was lent by a friend and was trimmed with orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of lilies. The bridesmaids, Miss Nancy Morrison (chief) and Miss Flora Donald wore frocks of torquoise blue butterfly sl\eer with coloured streamers and carried bouquets of cyclamen. The best man was Mr Keith Donald, the groomsman Mr Colin McLeod and the ushers Messrs Neville Whiteman and Gordon McLeod. The reception was held at “Ngaumutawa,” the guests being received by Mr Buick and Mrs Peter Cooper, assisted by Mr and Mrs McLeod. The bride’s going away frock was a blue Harris tweed costume with accessories to match. CAMPBELL—COOPER. The marriage took place at noon today of Miss Isabell Cooper, younger daughter of Mrs R. Cooper and the late Mr Cooper, of “Hinana,” Gladstone to Mr Murdo Campbell, younger son of Mr and Mrs Colin Campbell, of Clareville. The ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. R. Byers, of Carterton, took place at the homestead, Gladstone. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr Robert Cooper, of Christchurch, wore a frock of gold lame, with which was a gold tulle veil. Her bouquet was of gold abutilon, gladioli and iris. The bridesmaid, Miss Mary Cooper, of Gisborne, was attired in a frock of wine velvet and her bouquet was of gold abutilon, poppies and forsythia. The best man was Mr Laurie Allen, of Taratahi. The reception was held at the home, only immediate relatives of the two families being present. The bride’s travelling dress was a brown sports costume with accessories to tone. Mr and Mrs Campbell will reside at Clareville.
