ITALY TO USE INFLUENCE AT BURGOS CHECK TO FRANCO’S BOMBERS. DISCUSSIONS IN ROME. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, June 29: Reports that Lord Perth, British Ambassador in Rome, had seen the Italian Foreign Minister, Count Ciano, and called his attention to the effect on British opinion of the recent series of attacks on British merchantment in ports and territorial waters of the Government of Spain by General Franco’s bombers, are confirmed in offi-
cial circles. Lord Perth’s remarks were received by Count Ciano in a friendly spirit, and it is understood that, while the latter pointed out that the armed forces of Nationalist Spain were entirely under General Franco’s orders, the Ambassador was assured that Italy was most willing to do anything in her power to assist in this matter and use her influence at Burgos for this purpose. i - • BARCELONA BOMBED.
