FAREWELL GATHERING. 1 (“Times-Age” Special.) A pleasant time was spent at the home of Mrs T. Lang yesterday afternoon when a farewell was tendered to Mrs Pendergrast by her circle of friends. On her arrival little Judith Kilsby presented the guest of honour with a shoulder spray. An amusing advertisement competition was won by Mrs Bladin. Songs were • given by Mrs Houston and Mrs Raper, and Mrs Pendergrast and Mrs Houston gave a duet, and Mrs Bladen a humorous recitation. After afternoon tea Mrs Kilsby presented Mrs Pendergrast . with a handsome silver sugar basin to the accompaniment of musical honours. Mrs Pendergrast suitably replied. She was the recipient of many good wishes and farewells. GIRL GUIDES. On Monday evening the Girl Guides held a social in the Parish Hall in aid of the Truby King Memorial Fund, when a pleasant time was spent in games and competitions. Supper concluded a happy evening. The fund will be augmented by about £3. GOLF. 1 The ladies played a medal round on the Gum Grove links on Wednesday afternoon, which resulted as follows: —Miss D. Bloxam, 3 points, 1; Mrs H. McCarthy, 2 points, 2; Mrs Davis, 1 point, 3. An eclectic round resulted: Miss D. Bloxam, 3 points, 1; Mrs Davis, 2 points, 2; Mrs McCarthy, 1 point, 3. The third round for the challenge cup is to be played next week. EUCHRE TOURNEY. The Fire Brigade euchre tournament was well attended on Tuesday night, there being 14 tables in use. Results were: Ladies, Mrs Worsley 1, Mrs Hoskings 2; men, Mr P. Edwards 1; Mrs McGarvie 2. LIBRARY COMMITTEE. The Library Committee met on Monday afternoon, Mr R. W. Matthews presiding. Further information was received in connection with the linking up of country library services. In connection ' with the proposed rest room it was resolved to place plans and specifications before the Featherston Borough Council. It is estimated that £l5O is required for the addition to the present building and for furnishing. A sum of £5O was promised in the room on condition that the members of the committee raised a like sum.
