BV NEW SOU T H WALES MINERS COLLIERY OWNERS STANDING FIRM RESISTANCE TO REDUCTION OF HOURS (Recd This Day, 1.1.15 a.m.) SYDNEY. This Day. Despite a strike threat by the miners, the colliery proprietors decided not to agree to any reduction of the existing hours, which is one of the principal claims of the Miners’ Federation. If the miners resort to direct action ano’ close the pits, the responsibility for the stoppage will rest on their shoulders,” said the chairman of the Northern Collieries Association, Mr J. McGann, in announcing the decision of the mine proprietors not to give way.
