CAPITAL SHIPS

UNITED STATES TO BUILD BIGGEST Under Agreement with Britain OUTCOME OF FRIENDLY RELATIONS By Telegraph.—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.35 p.m.) LONDON, June 29. Under a new capital ship agreement which is shortly being announced Britain, for the first time in her history, will no longer possess the world’s largest battleship. The agreement, involving escalation, will result from Japan’s non-adherence. It provides for America building 45 000-ton ships, Britain 42,000-ton ships and France 35,000-ton ships, the. latter conditional on no European country excepting Britain exceeding this limit. All the powers agree to a sixteen-inch gun limit. It is expected that Russia, Germany and Italy .will ultimately subscribe to this. Britain’s concession to America i s a sequel to the development of Anglo-United States relations no longer involving naval rivalry and jealousy.
