Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph, 29.77; shade temperature, maximum 53.5, minimum 38; terrestrial, 29.7; sunshine, 3 hours 6 minutes; frost, 0.7 degrees.
General situation: A rather deep depression is centred west of Nelson and should cross the northern part of the South Island during the day. Pressure remains relatively low over south-east-ern Australia and several secondary depressions may still be expected. Forecast: Light to moderate northerly winds, shortly turning njpre westerly and freshening. Weather dull and in places misty with further rain probable and some heavy falls in and west of the ranges. Temperatures moderate.
