IMPROVEMENTS IN VALUES SMALLER ENTRIES RECEIVED (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 29. . Entries were smaller at today’s Addington market and as a result there was a slight improvement in values for most classes of stock. Fat sheep were principally concerned. Store sheep: Hoggets comprised the bulk of -a small entry and they sold draggingly at up to 10s lOd for wethers and 15s 4d for ewes. Two-tooth and four-tooth crossbred wethers sold at 21s 6d. Fat lambs: Exporters bought less freely than of late and prices were down by Is a head. Fat sheep: A small entry of about 400 head. Wethers were better by up to 2s a head and ewes by up to Is 6d. Best wethers made from 29s to 325; tops, to 345; good, 27s to 28s 6d; inferior, down to 20s; good ewes sold from 21s to 235; with bulk of the penning selling from 15s to 17s 6d. , Fat cattle: 364 were penned, about 150 less than recent averages. Lightweight cattle were in small supply and these improved in value. There was little change in prices of heavy steers, the tendency being weaker for this class. Best steers made from £l2 15s to £l4 ss; tops, to £l5 2s 6d; good steers, £ll to £l2 10s; light, down to £8 10s; good heifers, £8 to £9 10s; tops, to £ll 10s; light, down to £6; best cows, £7 10s to £9; tops, to £ll ss; inferior, down to £4 10s. Fat pigs: Porker values were little changed, but baccners were slightly easier. BULLOCK VALUES EASIER DULL MARKET FOR EWES (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A large yarding of cattle, with an average yarding of sheep, was offered at the Johnsonville sale. Only a few pens of prime heavy, bullocks came forward. These met with a ready sale, with prices easier to the extent of 10s a head on last week’s. Unfinished and lightweight bullocks were easier to the extent of 15s a head. Prime quality cows and heifers met with strong competition, with prices showing no alteration, while lightweights and unfinished sorts were not wanted. Runners and vealers met with no alteration. Only a few pens of extra prime heavy wethers came forward. These met with good competition at prices firm on last week’s, while plain and unfinished sheep were easier to the extent of 2s to 2s 6d a head. The yarding of ewes was of indifferent quality. No extra prime heavy ewes care forward. All classes met with a dull sale, with prices down to the extent of Is to Is 6d a head. The yarding of lambs was of indifferent quality, with little demand. Quotations are as follows: — Prime extra heavy bullocks, £l5 18s to £l4 13s; prime heavy bullocks, £l4 10s to £l4 5s sd; heavy bullocks, £l3 17s 6d to £l3 12s; bullocks, £l2 18s to £lO 10s; extra prime heavy cows and heifers, single, £9 18s to £9 12s; prime heavy cows and heifers, £8 10s to £7 15s; cows and heifers, £7 12s to £7 6s.
