HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the annual meeting of the Horticultural and Industrial Society, the following officers were elected:—Patron, Mr R. W. Matthews (re-elected); president, Mr J. W. Card (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messrs J. C. Bidwill, R. Barton, H, Bloxam, Arch Clark, D. C. Collins, D. C. Kibblewhite, Dr Sharp, G. Yule, Algar Williams, A. C. Pearce, D. H. S. Riddiford, A. Tocker, Rev R. S. Keenan, Mesdames W. Barton, A. E. Pearce, E. Elgar and Miss Card; secretary and. treasurer, Mrs C. Rea; auditor, Mr C. W. Ritchie; executive committee, Messrs G. Yule, Arch Clark, P. Smith, H. Clark, C. Carter, D. C. Kibblewhite, C. Rea; Mesdames C. Carlyon, Arch. Clark, E. Barry, J. G. McKenzie, H. Tutbury, H. Bloxam, H. Bloxam, H. Lawson, E. Wakely, G. Yule,/C. Ritchie, M. B. Tait, S. Grant, Luke Smith, Charles, Lowell, J. Brophy, Misses H. Card, E. Card, Viles, McTaggart, and Rev J. T. Holland. It was decided that those present endeavour to secure one or two extra members. It was decided to extend an invitation to, Her.,Excellency Lady Galway to open the show, the date of which was fixed for November 24 at 3 p.m. A letter of appreciation is to be sent to Mrs M. B. Tait for services rendered to the secretary. It was decided that the judges’ comments on exhibits be passed on to the competitors 'concerned. • The names of the competitors in the decorated table classes subject to popular voting are to be placed in sealed envelopes. Mrs C. Rea and Mr D. C. Kibblewhite were appointed savings bank trustees. Mrs Algar Williams, who presided, stated that owing to ill health the secretary, Miss Esma Card, had resigned. She moved that the resignation be accepted with regret. A vote of appreciation of Miss Card’s services was also passed. NATIONAL PARTY. The annual meeting of the Featherston Women’s Auxiliary of the National Party was held in the Anzac Hall yesterday afternoon. Mrs D. H. S. Riddiford presided over a good attendance. The treasurer’s report was adopted. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mrs D. H. S. Riddiford (reelected); treasurer, Mrs Roy Donald; secretaries, Misses J. and F. Donald; executive committee, Mesdames E. C. Holmes, J. C. Bidwill, Quentin Donald, R. W. Matthews, R. N. Barton, Arch. Clark, A. McKay, G. E. Yule, M. B. Tait, W. Fellingham, Algar Williams, J. Hyland, Misses Card and Yule; delegates to the Provincial Council, Mrs Riddiford, A. Williams, G. Yule, W. Sadler, Q. Donald, H. Lawson, Misses O. Nix and J. Donald. Mrs Riddiford introduced Mr J. F. Thompson, National Party candidate for the district, who addressed the meeting. It was decided to hold a euchre tournament and dance in the Anzac Hall on July 11. The charges for admission will be: Eflchre 1/6, dance 2/6. The supper arrangements were left to Mrs J. G. McKenzie and Mrs Q. Donald. CARTERTON AMATEURS. At the Tivoli Theatre, Carterton, tomorrow night the Carterton Amateur Comedy and Dramatic Club will present the comedy, “Who Are They?” The play will be directed by Mrs Gibb Johnston, who has a cast of twelve preparing for the production. The proceeds are to be given to the fund of the Plunket Society. PERSONAL. Mrs Small, of Lower Valley, left today on a holiday which is to be spent in Palmerston North.
