The championship tournament at Wimbledon was continued today. Miss Marble, using every stroke gracefully, eliminated Mrs Mathieu. Mrs Sperling's defeat of Mrs Fabyan prevented an all-American semi-finals. Mrs Fabyan led 4/1 in the second set, but Mrs Sperling's persistent retrieving triumphed. The women’s doubles quarter final was the best women’s doubles of the tournament thus far. All played most attractive all-court games, with much brilliant volleying. The results were as follow; — WOMEN’S SINGLES Quarter Finals:—Mrs Wills-Moody (U.S.A.), defeated Miss K. Stammers (Great Britain), 6/2, 6/1. Miss A. Marble (U.S.A.), defeated Mrs Mathieu (France), 6/2, 6/3. Mrs Sperling (Denmark), defeated Mrs S. Fabyan (U.S.A.), 4/6, 6/4, 6/4. Miss H. Jacobs (U.S.A.), defeated Miss J. Jedrzejowska (Poland), 6/2, 6/3. WOMEN'S DOUBLES Quarter Final: —Miss Marble and Mrs Fabyan defeated Misses Wynne and Coyne (Australia), 4/6, 6/2. 6/2. MEN'S DOUBLES Third Round:—Malfroy (New Zealand), and M. Cejnar (Czechoslovakia), defeated Karamitu and Nakano, 6/3, 6/2, 3/6, 6/3. H. Henkel and Mataxa (Germany), defeated Filby and R. A.
