NEW ZEALANDER’S DEATH
KILLED BY CHINESE BANDITS IN MALAYA EXTENSIVE JUNGLE HUNT IN PROGRESS SINGAPORE, June 25. A New Zealander, Mr F. W. G. Dunsford, owner of the Tersang Gold Mines in Pahang State, was killed by Chinese robbers who decamped with gold amalgam valued at £1250. Mr Dunsford, according to the British United Press correspondent, was attacked with a shotgun and native knives. An extensive jungle hunt is proceeding. Mr Dunsford. who was aged 58, was unmarried. He left New Zealand in 1908. Solitary Chinese last Thursday attacked Mr F. N. Betheras, of Melbourne, manager of the Australian mine in Pahang State, and almost sliced off his ear. His assailant was shot dead by Mr Betheras, who, according to the British United Press correspondent, shot the Chinese in self-defence.
