Fenwick, of Martinborough. Miss Jean Hooper-Smith, Dannevirke, is the guest of Miss Margaret Pearce, “Otahuna,” Featherston. Mrs J. Chapman, of Hamilton, and formerly of Masterton, is on a visit to Masterton. Mrs J. Duncan, of Hawke's Bay, is visiting her mother, Mrs Drew, Miriam Street, Masterton. Mrs W, E. Chamberlain, of Gisborne, is .the guest of her mother, Mrs D. McGregor, Pownall Street, Masterton. Mrs W. T; Leggett and Miss Margaret Leggett, Epsom, who have been making an extended visit to Mrs H. G. Groves, Marangai, Masterton, have returned to Auckland. The residents of Dyerville recently tendered a farewell social to Miss Betty Pryor, who will leave shortly to join the staff of the Palmerston North Hospital. Items were given by members of the drama circle and Miss Betty Garrity. Misses K. Smith and K. Pryor supplied music for dancing. On behalf of the settlers, Mr J. C. Garrity made the presentation of a handbag and a fountain pen to Miss Pryor. ENGAGEMENT. The engagement is announced of Evelyn, second daughter of Mrs J. Saba and the late Mr A. Habib, Masterton, to Victor Emanuel, eldest son of Mrs and the late Mr M. Gore, Wellington.
