WAIRARAPA CLUB’S RACE. WIN FOR DOOLING. Saturday’s race over a distance of 32 miles gave B. Dooling, who rode off the 9-minute mark, his first win. He led C. Gourlay. his co-marker, home by 50 yards, the latter just reaching the line in front of Woollett, the scratch man. Then came J. Duckett, C. Dykes and L. Green. The race was a disappointing one. because of the fact that five riders retired, a bad policy in view of the forthcoming open race. J. Brader also had to retire through a puncture. The “wooden spoon” this week went to L. Green. The result was as follows:— B. Dooling (9min.), 1; C. Gourlay (9 min.). 2; K. Woollett (scr.), 3. Fastest times: —K. Woollett (scr.), 1 hr. 23 min. 17 sec., 1; J. Duckett (3 min.), 1 hr. 26 min. 21 sec., 2; C. Dykes (3min.), 1 hr. 26 min. 28 sec.. 3.
