World Dairy Congress.
A decision that the Government be
asked to invite the next World Dairy Congress to meet in New Zealand in 1940 was reached by the National Dairy Conference at New Plymouth yesterday. The last world congress was held in Berlin, and the next was to have been held in Vienna in 1940. In view of the absorption of Austria by Germany. it is now suggested that the conference should meet in New Zealand in our centennial year. Heard from Daventry. It is very seldom that the result of a Rugby match played in New Zealand is first heard by a Dominion football fan from another part of the world. This was the experience of a Napier wireless enthusiast recently. Missing the result of the NorthSouth Island match, he was agreeablysurprised, when listening-in at 6.4 a o'clock on the evening, to hear the result announced in a short-wave broadcast from Daventry. The Masterton Collie Club’s annual dance will be held in the Masonic Hall on Tuesday. July 12, when the cups and trophies won at the recent trials will be presented. The usual high standard will be maintained. Patrons are assured of a good night’s entertainment.
