Superintendent Clark reports to his Fire Board every quarter that the brigade is highly efficient, and the alarm system is perfect. The mess up at the Archer Street fire and Superintendent Clark's quarterly reports don't balance very well to my mind. The chairman of the board says that an inquiry will be held at their next quarterly meeting. Now, as a ratepayer. I should like to know from the board’s chairman ( if the report of this inquiry will be made public, as the ratepayers of ] Masterton and the people who insure ( their properties, contribute toward the | upkeep of this brigade and I think ] they have a right to know who is to , blame for all this bungling.—l am. j etc., : RATEPAYER. < Masterton, June 21. I (When the above letter was refer- : red to Mr Trevor Beetham. chairman t of the Masterton Fire Board, he- said ( that as far as he was personally concerned he saw no reason why the report of the inquiry should not be made public, though a decision ai to the action to be taken rested with the 1 board as a whole. The matter, he i said would be fully inquired into.) Il
