Hornblow, of Auckland, returned home today after a holiday spent in Masterton. Mrs T. McGregor, of Wanganui East, is visiting Pahiatua, being the guest of Mrs C. S. Carrad. The Rev and Mrs J. M. Simpson, of Dunedin, are the guests of Mrs C. M. Wright, Church Street, Masterton. Sixty debutantes—a record number—were presented to his Grace Archbishop O’Shea at the annual Charity Ball in aid of the St Vincent de Paul Society for the relief of the poor, which was held in the Wellington Town Hall last night. At the “flag bridge” evening held by the Masterton Croquet Club on Tuesday, the opportunity was taken to bid farewell to Mrs W. Penistone, an enthusiastic member, who will shortly leave Masterton for Levin. Mrs Polson, president, expressed the regret the members of the club felt that Mrs Penistone was leaving Masterton, and in presenting her with a crystal vase, extended to her every good wish for her future.
