STRENGTH IN WAR
OBSERVATIONS BY VISCOUNT RUNCIMAN REJECTION OF DESPERATE VIEW BRITAIN’S UNDISCLOSED RESOURCES (Recd This Day, 10.40 a.m.) LONDON. June 21. Viscount Runciman, presiding at the annual conference of the National Liberals, said: "I refuse to take a desperate view of the European situation. We are conscious of the strength of our potential enemies, who are not so conscious of our strength. There would be a good many surprises both for them and for ourselves if Mr Hore-Belisha (Secretary of War), Mr Duff-Cooper (First Lord of the Admiralty), and Sir Kingsley Wood (Air Minister) disclosed our strength frankly and without reservation.
