WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
UPPER PLAIN MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The June meeting of the Upper Plain Women’s Institute was well attended. Mrs Dagg presided. The meeting opened with the aspiration, “Prayer for Peace of World,” and “The Ode to-Friendship.” Several visitors were welcomed. The convenors of the drama, library, and sales stall reported that these circles were proving most successful. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Beecroft for the donation of library books. Mrs Welch was asked to attend the Dominion Conference in July as a delegate. An interesting talk on the “Golden Thread” was given by Mrs Tankersiy. After afternoon tea had been served by the hostesses, Mesdames Steer and H. Dagg, a demonstration was given by Mrs Munn on the making of a very pretty bedspread and various other articles. Mrs Munn was accorded a hearty vote of thanks, and Mrs Conly was also thanked for judging the' competitions, which resulted as follows: Best bloom, Mrs Laing 1. Mrs W. Taplin 2; article from sugar bag, Mrs Steer 1, Mrs Tankersly 2. A happy afternoon was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
