EVEREST PARTY

MORE NEWS OF ACTIVE PREPARATIONS NO MENTION OF ABANDONMENT OF EXPEDITION. NORTH COL OCCUPIED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. (Recd This Day, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, June 20. A “Times” copyright message from Mr H. W. Tilman, written at Camp 3 on May 26, states that the North Col has been occupied by four Europeans and fifteen porters. The message adds that the weather is good and there is no wind. This is the second message within two days, after a silence long enough to start rumours that an early monsoon had caused the abandonment of the expedition. Such rumours are now shown to be at least premature. No information has been received from the party yet as to when they intend to return. ’
