LEAGUE RUGBY
THE NEW ZEALAND TOUR OF AUSTRALIA NO TEST TO BE PLAYED ON JULY 2. GENERAL COMMITTEE’S DECISION. (Recd This Day, 10.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The general committee of the New South Wales Rugby League decided that there should not be a Test between Australia and New Zealand on July 2, as requested by the Council of the New Zealand Rugby League. It decided that the matches previously arranged for July 2 would stand. These matches are: New South Wales versus Queensland, at Sydney, and New Zealand versus Newcastle, at Newcastle. The Queensland League had telegraphed that it was not interested in any other fixture for July 2 than the New South Wales versus Queensland match. The committee did not discuss the possibility of a Test match being played later. A message 'was read from Mr Carlaw, co-manager of the Kiwis, recommending that the final decision on the question of a Test match should be deferred until after next Saturday’s match between New Zealand and Queensland.
