AIR BOMBARDMENTS
COMMISSION OF EXPERTS GOING TO FRANCE Will Proceed to Any Part of Spain ANNOUNCEMENT IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) RUGBY, June 20. The UnderrSecretary for Foreign Affairs (Mr R. A. Butler) announced in the House of Commons that arrangements were nearing completion for the early despatch to France of a Commission, consisting of British, Swedish and Norwegian experts to report on the aerial bombardments in Spain. . , - .. .>» ; The commission, whose headquarters probably would be m Toulouse, would be prepared to proceed to any part of Spain at the request of either side in Spain and to report on the facts concerning bombardments by air of towns or villages. , . Mr Butler, in answer to Mr Noel Baker, who asked if the Prime Minister could now say when the recent Anglo-Italian agreement would be brought into force, declared that both the British and Italian Governments were anxious for the agreement to be brought into full force as early as 15 Asked for an assurance, in connection with the Anglo-Italian negotiations, that the British Government did not contemplate authorising any form of financial assistance, credit or guarantee to the Italian Government, or Italian merchants, for the purchase of wheat, Mr Butler said the question of credits in any form was not raised by either side in the negotiations which, led to the agreement of April 16 and no other negotiations with Italy on that subject were contemplated by the British Government.
