THE REGENT.
“THE LIFE OF EMILE ZOLA.” That outstanding picture, “The Life of Emile Zola,” with Paul Muni in the chief role, will be finally shown tonight at the Regent Theatre. It begins with the early struggles of Zola as a novelist, carries him along to wealth and fame, and goes thoroughly into his magnificent crusade on behalf of Captain Dreyfus, the army officer Who Was falsely accused of selling military secrets, and Was unjustly convicted and sent to Devil’s Island. Muni, of course plays -Zola. Another splendid actor, Joseph Schildkraut, portrays the unfortunate Dreyfus. The rest of the cast is practically all-star. Gale Sondergaard, who had such a sensational success in “Anthony Adverse,” is Madame Dreyfus; Gloria Holden is Madame Zola, and Erin O’Brien-Moore ■ is “Nana,” the girl of the streets about whom Zola Wrote his first great novel. Tomorrow on the Regent stage will be played the badminton match, Australia v. Wairarapa, preceded by four spoi-ts shorts.
