SHARP EARTHQUAKE

FELT AT WANGANUI. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, June 20. A short, sharp earthquake of considerable intensity was felt at Wanganui shortly before 1 o’clock today. There was only one shake, which lasted for only a fraction of a second, and it was unrecognised as an earthquake by a number of people, in spite of its severity. This is the second shake felt at Wanganui during the last few days. The earthquake lent a touch of realism to a display at present on view at the Wanganui museum called “Seismology—the Science of Earthquakes.” It is on exchange from the Hawke’s Bay museum and contains information : about the origin and extent of earthquakes and a number of excellent pic- , tures of the Hawke’s Bay earthquake ; of 1931.
