SECRETARY HONOURED (“Times-Age” Special.) At the June meeting of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union a presentation of a beautiful crystal bowl was made to Miss No'eline Holmes, who is to be married shortly to Mr E. Hatton, of Wellington. Miss Holmes was secretary of the local branch for four years. The presentation was made by the President (Mrs A. Jamieson), who wished Miss Holmes every happiness in the future, to which Miss Holmes suitably replied. PERSONALS Mrs R. M. Herrick and Miss Kyra Herrick are away on holiday. Miss Herrick will commence nursing in Pamlerston North after her vacation. Mr B. G. Wallis is an inmate of Tiri hospital, where he has to undergo an operation. On Saturday morning the staff of Pain and Kershaw Ltd. gathered to farewell Mr Milton Gair, who has commenced duties with the Self Help in Wellington. Mr Cochrane presented Mr Gair with a wristlet watch expressing the staff’s regret at his departure, and wishing him every success and happiness in his new position. Mr Gair suitably thanked them. Mr Gair will be very much missed from tennis and badminton circles. Mr Eric McAlpine suffered an unfortunate accident over the week-end when he badly cut his foot whilst chopping wood. Mr and Mrs R. Laird, senr., of Westmere, Wanganui, are the guests of Mr and Mrs H. Hardinge. SIR TRUBY KING MEMORIAL On Friday afternoon girls of the local Guide Association, conducted a street sale of cakes, vegetables and sweets to raise funds for the Sir Truby King Memorial. The result was very satisfactory.
