ROAD CYCLING

WAIRARAPA CLUB’S RACE. WON BY WOOLLETT. Saturday’s 25-mile race from Fly and Young's corner, Dixon Street, to the Black Bridge and back resulted in a chapter of accidents. I. McAlicce retired with machine trouble first and then J. Brader crashed at the turn and retired. The three remaining scratch riders caught the two two-minute men and then R. Copp collided with B. Harman who had hit K. Woollett’s back wheel. The first two had nasty spills. W. Gay also fell but remounted, but had a puncture later in the race. The club is fortunate in having a youthful member of the St. John Ambulance Brigade in their ranks. He rendered efficient first aid to the injured riders. The results are as follow: —K. Woollctt (scr) 1; J. Duckett (2mins) 2; C. Dykes (2min) 3. Time, 1 hour 5 minutes, 5 secs. The above riders were also similarly placed for time honours. Woollett narrowly won in the sprint at the finish.
