Smyth, Pahiatua. Mrs F. M. Paulsen, Sydney, who has been spending some months with her daughter, Mrs C. W. McMillan, Masterton, has left for Wellington, where she is the guest of Mr and Mrs W. J. Jorgensen, Seatoun. Arranged by the committee of the Wellington Plunket Society, a party in honour of Miss Elsmie Ward, who has retired from the position of secretarytreasurer after nearly sixteen years’ service, was held in the Wellington Women’s Club last night. Mrs C. E. Richardson, Mrs Claude Weston and Miss Cameron were in charge of the proceedings, and the guests included representatives of every Plunket subcommittee in Wellington. From as far afield as Pahiatua came Mrs H. Paterson, who was a former member of the central council. PRE-WEDDING PARTIES Miss Joan Rutherford, whose marriage to Mr Terence Falloon, will take place tomorrow, has been the guest of honour at several parties and gift evening recently. Last Saturday night, Miss Marion Falloon and her brothers entertained them at a dance. Miss Falloon wore a dress of pale blue threaded with silver, and Miss Rutherford was in black watered taffeta, with a gold lame coat. Recently Miss Peggy Hubbard was hostess at a gift party for the bride-to-be, and Miss Margaret Caverhill gave a kitchen tea at the home of her aunt, Mrs Woodhouse.
